Pointe du Hoc

Pointe du Hoc is a promontory located on the Normandy coast, France. It is located between Omaha Beach and Utah Beach on the English Channel and was the site of a crucial military operation during the Normandy landings on June 6, 1944, during World War II.


Before the landing, the Germans had fortified Pointe du Hoc with bunkers, cannons and other defensive installations.

Today, Pointe du Hoc is a site of memory and a memorial dedicated to the American Rangers. It is preserved as is, with shell craters, bunkers and remnants of German military installations, giving visitors a first-hand look at the conditions of the battle.
