Going camping at the last minute is easier than you might think, as long as you choose accommodation where everything is already ready. At Camping Portland, a five-star Yelloh! Village in Port-en-Bessin, the cottages sleep four to eight people, heated and equipped, and in every category except the 3-flower cottages, bed linen and towels are provided: all that is left is to pack your bags. Availability is shown in real time on the Yelloh! Village booking centre. At the end of the season, the last window is the autumn half-term holidays: the campsite stays open until 1 November 2026, indoor water park included.

Why Portland can be booked at the last minute

Cottages ready to live in

An improvised stay doesn't cope well with improvising on site. Portland's cottages are handed over ready: equipped kitchen with crockery, separate bedrooms, bathroom, heating and terrace. From the 3-flower cottage to the eight-person Premium, by way of the Nautilhome cottages, there is one for every family, including a cottage adapted for people with reduced mobility.

The accommodation pages give the details of each model: floor area, sleeping arrangements, equipment. Enough to choose in a few minutes, then check straight away what is still available.

Whatever the weather

Normandy weather no longer calls the shots

You book at the last minute because you've seen the forecast; in Normandy, you know it can turn. The campsite's water park is covered and heated to 30 °C: a grey sky spoils neither the swimming, nor the counter-current river, nor the children's afternoon.

And when the sun comes out, the harbour and beach of Port-en-Bessin lie just below the campsite, and the sand of Omaha Beach is five kilometres away.

As a family

Children busy from day one

A short stay leaves no time to look for activities. Here, they are on site: Club Kids for 5-7 year-olds and Club Juniors for 8-12 year-olds, a games room, a playground and paths to ride around on bikes. The clubs run five days a week and are included in your stay.

During the autumn half-term holidays, the programme takes on Halloween colours. For outings, our ideas around the campsite are gathered on the page what to do during the autumn holidays in Normandy.

The first evening

Dinner on the first evening, without shopping

Arrive at the end of the day and have dinner without preparing anything: the bar-restaurant serves lunch and dinner, seven days a week, until the end of the season, also prepares takeaway dishes, and bread and pastries for the next morning are available on site.

That is often what makes the difference between a successful spur-of-the-moment weekend and a weekend spent looking for an open supermarket.

Booking

The last weeks of the 2026 season
